Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Exit Lab LLC (“Exit Lab,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use websites, tools, or services operated under the Exit Lab brand, including exitlab.com and associated Exit Lab sites and subdomains (collectively, the “Platform”).
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
Depending on the form or tool you choose, we may collect:
- Contact details such as name, email address, phone number, and company name.
- Business details such as industry, revenue range, earnings range, recurring revenue, owner involvement, sale timing, and answers used to create an on-screen Exit Score or directional valuation estimate.
- The content of messages, callback requests, resource requests, newsletter signups, or confidential sale-related inquiries.
- The exact consent disclosure and version displayed with the form, along with the channel-specific choices associated with that submission.
1.2 Information collected automatically
We may collect device and browser information, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, pages viewed, interactions, timestamps, and limited attribution information. Lead attribution is limited to page paths, recognized UTM campaign fields, and the referring site origin. We do not intentionally retain unrelated query parameters or detailed referring-page paths as lead attribution.
2. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Platform.
- Calculate and display requested results, including Exit Score and directional valuation information, on screen.
- Save and respond to a request, and send a transactional receipt when the displayed form requests service-email permission.
- Send Exit Lab research or marketing email only when you expressly opt in, such as through a newsletter checkbox or newsletter form.
- Call about a specific request only when the displayed form expressly authorizes a phone call.
- Prevent fraud, enforce our terms, troubleshoot failures, and comply with law.
- Create aggregate or de-identified analysis that does not reasonably identify an individual.
Current Platform forms do not authorize SMS messages. We do not infer phone, marketing, SMS, or buyer-introduction permission from a page name, lead source, or prior submission.
3. Source-Specific Communication Choices
The disclosure displayed with a form controls how that submission may be used:
| Choice | What it permits |
|---|---|
| Requested service | Use needed to save, provide, or respond to the specific request shown. A service-email permission may allow a transactional receipt, but not marketing email. |
| Marketing or newsletter opt-in | Exit Lab research and similar email updates until you unsubscribe. It does not permit phone calls, SMS, or buyer introductions. |
| Phone authorization | A call about the specific request described by that form. It does not permit SMS. |
| Buyer or advisor introduction | No introduction is permitted unless you separately and specifically approve it. |
Refusing optional marketing, phone, or third-party sharing does not prevent you from viewing a result that the Platform offers on screen.
4. When We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Service providers that host, secure, analyze, schedule, support, or deliver requested Platform functions under contractual or operational restrictions.
- Professional advisers or authorities when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, prevent fraud, or establish and defend legal claims.
- A successor in a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of Exit Lab LLC, subject to applicable law and appropriate confidentiality protections.
- A specifically identified buyer, advisor, or other introduction recipient only after you separately authorize that introduction.
We do not automatically share scanner submissions with buyers, advisors, investment banks, or partner firms. We do not sell personal information for money. If a law defines certain analytics or advertising disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing,” you may use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.
5. Cookies and Analytics
The Platform may use essential storage and analytics technologies to operate, understand, and secure the site. Where required, non-essential analytics are controlled through the consent choice presented on the Platform. Lead identity used to prefill related forms during a page session is kept in memory. We do not intentionally store lead email, name, phone, or company information in localStorage, sessionStorage, or cookies.
6. Retention and Security
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the request, consent evidence, security, legal obligations, dispute resolution, and legitimate business records. Retention varies by data type and context. Suppression records may be retained to honor an unsubscribe, complaint, or other restriction and prevent accidental reactivation.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No online system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Choices and Rights
- You may unsubscribe from marketing email through the link in a marketing message. Unsubscribing does not reactivate or expand any other permission.
- You may ask us not to call. Current Platform forms do not authorize SMS.
- You may decline a buyer or advisor introduction without losing access to on-screen results.
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to opt out of certain sale, sharing, profiling, or targeted-advertising activity.
To submit a privacy request, email privacy@exitlab.com. We may verify your identity and may retain information when permitted or required by law. Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable, subject to verification of authority.
8. Children, International Use, and External Services
The Platform is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Exit Lab LLC is based in the United States. Information may be processed in the United States or other locations used by service providers. External links and services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in practices, technology, or law. We will update the date above when changes are made. Material changes apply prospectively unless law requires otherwise.
